About me

Hi! I’m Karina — a visual artist from Valdivia, Chile, now living and creating in California. Geekirumi is my little handmade shop where I bring together everything I love: color, craft, humor, and the joy of making something soft and cute with my own hands.

I learned to crochet as a kid, sitting next to my mom while she guided me through every stitch. Life took me into fine arts, education, and communication, and for a long time crochet stayed in the background. When I became an entrepreneur in 2014, I realized that making amigurumi was the perfect way to combine creativity, problem‑solving, and connection with people. It felt like coming home.

My process

My inspiration comes from pop culture, simple shapes, and a sense of playful functionality. I love mixing forms that don’t usually go together, adding a bit of humor, and letting ideas evolve as I crochet. Most pieces end up different from what I originally planned — and that’s part of the magic.

Crocheting is my favorite part of the process. There’s something grounding about turning yarn into a tiny creature or a soft stress ball, and sharing that joy with others is what keeps me going. When someone smiles at one of my designs, it makes the whole process worth it.

My shop

Geekirumi is a one‑person shop, and I keep it intentionally small and human. I care about clear, kind communication and making sure every customer feels supported. If something comes up, I’m here to help.

All items are handmade to order, with no machinery involved. Every piece carries the small, natural variations that come from human hands — little signs of care, time, and craft. I hope you embrace those details as part of what makes each amigurumi unique.
